I am a physician with nearly 3 decades of clinical experience related to sexual health, internal medicine, and pulmonary medicine. I received an MD from UCSF, where I stayed for internship, residency, and fellowship before joining the faculty in 1997.  I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and have completed a certificate in psychotherapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco.  I am not a psychiatrist.  My research at UCSF led to safer ways for human connection, including PrEP for HIV prevention.   I was born and raised in Carmel, California. The beauty of the place comforted, delighted, and awed.
